EDB System of Indicators for Eurasian Integration

The Eurasian Development Bank presents the Report in respect of the project on the EDB System of Indicators for Eurasian Integration (SIEI), designed to become the monitoring and assessment tool for integration processes withinthe post-Soviet territory. The SIEI constitutes a comprehensive system containing a set of indices that cover different aspects of economic, political and social integration.

By publishing the first Report on the System of Indicators for Eurasian Integration, EDB hopes to lay the basis for a long-term project. In the future, the Eurasian Development Bank plans to carry out annual gathering of data and calculation of the EDB System of Indicators for Eurasian Integration. The data provided in the first edition of the System of Indicators reflect the dynamics of the integration processes during the decade from 1999 to 2008. This solves the task of determining the «starting point» of the development of post-Soviet states after the «centrifugal impulse» of the 1990s. In the future, it will be of no less importance to identify and demonstrate the main vectors of integration development of the rapidly evolving economies and societies in the post-Soviet territory, their interaction, the work of the integration institutes, the impact of the integration initiatives and the potential solutions.
