Message from the Chairman

In its first year and a half of operation, the EDB has achieved a great deal, and we are already fulfilling our mission to become a catalyst for integration in the Eurasian region. The keystone of the Bank’s successful start has been the continuous support of the founding members — Russia and Kazakhstan. It was their initiative to establish this tool of integration and their will to ensure the Bank’s foundation, organization and capitalization.

Within a short period of time, we have put together the critical prerequisites to building a  long-term, sustainable-performance development bank. We have set our strategic direction until 2010 and agreed the corporate values and policies we will live by. We have created a strong management and governance structure and established processes to support robust decision-making. We are building a committed and talented workforce and we will encourage and develop that talent.

We have achieved much in our operations, building up a project portfolio and providing $431.5 million in financing for projects in our region. We have received positive ratings from the international ratings agencies and secured syndicated loans to support the Bank’s future growth.

We are all combining our hard work, experiences and talents to become one of the world’s top development banks and positively influencing development and integration in our region.
