Corporate Governance

The EDB’s strategy emphasizes the importance of transparent information and good corporate governance in building a  world-class development financial institution. We view good corporate governance as a key driver of efficiency and reputation.

The accurate and timely management of information is the cornerstone of good corporate governance. Transparency allows for informed decision-making by management in the interest of the Bank's member states.

The Bank is managed by the Council of the Bank, the Management Board of the Bank and the Chairman of the Management Board of the Bank. The Bank’s corporate governance system is based on compliance with legal requirements, operating in a fair, responsible, accountable, transparent and politically neutral manner. The Bank’s corporate governance procedures are governed by the Regulations for Corporate Governance, which have been developed in line with the best practices of international development banks and are to be approved by the Council of the Bank.
