Unique Status
As an international organization subject to international law, the EDB has a unique judicial status:
- it is subject to international law;
- in its member states it has the rights of a judicial body;
- it has a special legal status that accords the Bank certain immunities and privileges in the territory of its member states, including:
- administrative and judicial immunity;
- customs and tax exemptions;
- advantages that allow the Bank to avoid certain costs and risks associated with potential changes in banking regulations in its member states.
