Armenia
Republic of Armenia
In April 2009 Armenia paid up its share in the Bank’s charter capital, thus becoming full member of the EDB. At present the Bank considers implementing its projects in Armenia.
The fallout of the global crisis is felt strongly in the country. Armenia’s mechanical engineering sector, agribusiness, and light industry all cut down production. On the other hand, Armenia has limited resources to pursue an efficient anti-crisis policy.
In these conditions, implementing EDB projects in Armenia will assist the country’s recovery from the crisis and, just as importantly, expand its trade and economic co-operation with the other member states of the Bank. This in turn will support Armenia’s sustainable development. The Bank’s priorities in the country may be transport infrastructure, power sector, agribusiness, mechanical engineering, and financial institutions.
