The Sultanate of Oman and the Eurasian Development Bank Sign Agreement on the Terms of Presence
Astana, 6 October — The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and the Ministry of Finance of the Sultanate of Oman have signed an Agreement on the Terms of Bank’s Presence in the Sultanate of Oman. The signing took place during the state visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said to Kazakhstan, in the presence of His Majesty and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart K. Tokayev.
The Agreement marks an important new chapter for the EDB. The Sultanate of Oman will become the 8th shareholder of the Bank and the first member state from the Gulf region.
The document was signed by His Excellency Sultan bin Salem Al Habsi, Minister of Finance of the Sultanate of Oman, and Mr Nikolai Podguzov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Eurasian Development Bank.
"This Agreement reflects our shared intention to build a bridge between Central Asia and the Gulf region. We see significant potential in this partnership and are committed to deepening our cooperation, which is fully aligned with the Bank's new strategy," said Mr Podguzov.
This is a testament of shared vision of the Sultanate of Oman and the Eurasian Development Bank to foster long-term economic partnership, promote sustainable investment, and strengthen regional connectivity. It also marks an important step in the economic relationship between Oman, Kazakhstan and other countries of the Eurasian region.
